Alex P. Keaton Jumps the Shark
This is Jonathan Krohn. Jonathan is 14. Jonathan recently spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. Jonathan was also recently featured in a New York Times article, which I invite you to read before continuing with this post.
Now I invite you to watch Jonathan's CPAC speech:
Again, Jonathan is only 14, so he can be excused for his words and actions. The same cannot be said, however, for both the organizers of this event, and those in attendance, who gave this young man a standing ovation. This is not to imply that Mr. Kohn should have been booed off of the stage, but at any point did the organizers of this event think, "Ahhh, maybe in a few years, Johnathan," and did anyone in the audience think "Why am I standing and clapping? Has it come to this? That was literally two and a half minutes of nothing...from a fourteen year-old." The answer is no. In fact, Johnathan is the new darling of the conservative arm of the Republican Party.
Now, I invite you to enter the first contest in the brief history of this website. Commenters are invited to offer their best summation of the phenomenon we experience with young Mr. Kohn, wherein some one so perfectly embodies the characteristics of an ideal, object or, in this case, political party that they become a living metaphor.
It's been a long time since I've been this tempted to deliver a swift backhand. Not even sure if I want to give it to him or his parents. Maybe both. His cutesy banter belongs in the editorial section of a local newspaper. Somebody get that kid a Blowpop and a kickball, before it's too late.
